“It sounds almost trite, going through this with Betsi, but cancer doesn’t care if you’re pro-choice, anti-choice, progressive, conservative,” Hurd said. “Victims of cancer could care less about people’s politics.” —
Keep your Boehner out of my Uterus!: Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation ends partnership with Planned Parenthood due to pressure from Anti-Choice groups
He’s right, cancer doesn’t care what your politics are. Know who the single largest provider of preventative services, including pap smears and mammograms is? Planned Parenthood. So, by ending their affiliation with PP, the Komen foundation is saying that people who DON’T care that cancer affects millions of un- or under-insured women (and men) every year, matter more than the people who get and have cancer. Stay classy, folks, stay classy.

Over the past five years, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation funds have enabled Planned Parenthood health centers to provide nearly 170,000 clinical breast exams and referrals for more than 6,400 mammograms. These cancer detection and prevention programs saved the lives of women who often had nowhere else to turn for care.
Now, after facing criticism from anti-choice, anti-women’s health groups, the Komen Foundation has decided to stop supporting women seeking care at Planned Parenthood health centers. We are determined to make sure that these women can continue to get the care they need — and, as always, that means we are counting on you.

WHY
you know how people say “shoot for the moon, even if you miss you’ll land among the stars”?
actually, besides the sun, the closest star is over 4 light-years away
so if you miss, you’ll just be floating through the dark void of space for the rest of eternity
until you are dead, just like your dreams

Someone living near my boyfriend actually has a Newt Gingrich 2012 sign in their front yard. While driving past it I was struck with an overwhelming urge to jump from my moving car and destroy it. Seriously. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE? There’s also a HUGE Mitt Romney sign on a piece of property across the street, I think it belongs to the bank next to it. That would make sense.
So I am guessing that lawmakers want to be able to use drugs freely while receiving their paychecks from tax payers, but when poor people do it they don’t want them receiving anything.
Makes. So. Much. Sense…
